      The Public Procurement Act, 2024 (Act No. 28 of 2024) was assented to in July 2024 and is intended to replace the preferential-procurement framework with a single procurement law for all organs of state, including a Public Procurement Office within National Treasury and a preferential-procurement chapter. It comes into operation on a date fixed by proclamation, section by section; until then the existing framework continues to apply.
